COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM GOALS

1. To offer students an opportunity to visit and experience life at several prominent and/or Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Virginia and North Carolina, as well as, SUNY Institutions in Upstate New York.

2. To bring about greater awareness of the College enrollment, Application, Readiness, and Financial Aid process.

3. To assist youth and young adults in the process of enrolling in higher education.

4. To expose youth and young adults to the college environment.

5. To provide resources, support, and encouragement in education

Hampton University 2015

Purposes and Goals:

1. To empower youth and young adults to exceed in education and in their community.

2. To maintain and foster an interest in civic and community affairs.

3. To inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation.

4. To transmit the principles of justice, freedom and democracy.

5. To promote and protect the interests of youth and young adults of the urban community, principally those of Bedford Stuyvesant and Bushwick.

6. To give youth and young adults the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential and provide special support and guidance necessary for their positive development.

7. To provide youth and young adults with programs which emphasize the development of skills for living, for participating in a democratic society and pluralistic world.

8. To provide quality education for all youth and young adults through alternative forms that provide for individualized learning and flexibility in academic and career options.

9. To provide work experience, paid and unpaid employment for all young people, including adequate preparation for transition to the world of work.

10. To place attention on prevention of juvenile delinquency and drug and alcohol abuse.

11. To coordinate programs within our parent organization that meet the developmental needs of our youth and young adults.
